Don’t run out of breath

Compressed air continues to be the most important source of energy for easily putting something into motion in automated machines, e.g., for transporting granulate, for blowing off faulty parts or for actuating piston rods, to name just a few examples.

Even though compressed air provides a cost-effective solution for many applications, the disadvantage of the high cost factor of compressed air production remains: an average of 95% of the applied work is lost before the air is actually used.

To reduce such losses, to maintain a constant overview of the compressed air consumption and to also perfectly plan the maintenance intervals of a compressed air system, ipf electronic presents a new family of flow sensors for the measurement of compressed air consumption with the SL89 and SL95. These sensors are available with sensing elements in stainless steel and process connections from R1/4" to R2". With air flows of up to 1195m3/h – even with temperatures as high as 110°C – the calorimetric measurement systems record the compressed air consumption with an accuracy of ±1.5% of the measured value as well as ±0.3% of the end value. For evaluation, the solutions integrate a 4-20mA driver and an RS-485 interface. Alternatively, the air consumption can also easily be determined using the freely adjustable pulse output.
