With the UY21 series, ipf electronic takes advantage of communication in its simplest form. Or better said, sound as a transmission medium is used in an adapted form as a solution for demanding applications. Similar to a lecture in which there is a speaker and an audience, the concept of the UY21 series uses a transmitter and a receiver. In between, sound – ultrasound to be exact – is transmitted.
If an object is now placed in the area in between the devices, one is no longer able to hear the other. The interruption does not result in an end of communication, however, but rather in a signal to the higher-level evaluation. Best suited are the contactless sensors in the field of object positioning or tape-tear monitoring.
The devices can even detect transparent objects with rough surfaces. And, should the environmental conditions happen to become harsher, e.g., from dirt or dust, the pair still reliably performs its job. Transmitter and receiver of the ultrasonic barrier can be mounted up to 300mm apart and, unlike scanning ultrasonic devices, have no dead zone. As a PNP normally open version, the system is available as a model with 2m long connection cable (UY210100) and as a 10 m cable version (UY210102). The offer is rounded out with a 2m cable version as a normally closed device (UY210200).
