Industry 4.0 ceased to be a buzzword quite some time ago. “Digitalization” will therefore be increasing-ly prevalent in every conceivable application area in a wide range of production environments in future.
However, anyone who would like to keep up with this development, must safeguard the commu-nication capability of the relevant components and therefore also the sensors. This is one reason why the new vacuum and pressure sensors with IO-Link capability from ipf electronic should be carefully examined during the Hanover Fair.
IO-Link is now regarded as the standard for a technology via which sensors and actuators can com-municate with each other. In this way, important additional information such as damping, switching frequency or a sensor defect can be determined directly on higher-order systems via point-to-point communication and also sensor parameters such as switching behavior, timer functions etc. can also be set in a central location using this method.
The new vacuum and pressure sensors with IO-Link from ipf electronic are therefore future-orientated for many pneumatic application areas. The compact, extremely lightweight sensors in the robust plas-tic housing cover detection ranges from -1...10bar, have a response time of < 2.5ms as well as a switching frequency of 200Hz, and therefore make variable and versatile use possible in all conceiva-ble areas of handling and automation systems. Examples of potential applications are pressure moni-toring, vacuum checking for vacuum lifters, compressor actuation etc.
Among other things, the simple, menu-guided programming ensures that the vacuum and pressure sensors are started up quickly. The parameters are very easy to adjust, even for extremely specialized applications such as “pressure window” monitoring. Locking protection against unwanted device ma-nipulation can also be selected.
The pressure is displayed in real time via an extremely easy-to-read LED display integrated in the sen-sor. The devices are equipped with two independently adjustable signal outputs, whose switching points can be set with precision. The respective associated switching point hysteresis can also be freely defined.
These calibrated and temperature-compensated innovations are available in four versions:
DW164600 (-1 ... 0bar),
DW16460J (-1 ... +1bar),
DW16460D (0 ... +10bar) und
DW16460K (-1 ... +10bar).
The first two device types can withstand pressure peaks of up to a maximum of 5bar, whereas the DW16460D and DW16460K can withstand a maximum pressure of up to 16bar. The devices in protection class IP65 are suitable for filtered, dry or oiled compressed air as well as neutral gases, and can be used within a temperature range of -10°C to +60°C.
