You want to monitor for the presence of a label or a protective film? You’d like to use color marks for sorting purposes or to check self-luminous objects? Then a color sensor of the OF51 series from ipf electronic might be just what you’re looking for.
The devices of this series are characterized by a very compact housing of just 50x50 mm. In spite of these small dimensions, the sensors have five outputs and one input that are available for use via a standard 8-pin, M12 standard industrial plug. The sensors are available in different versions with integrated illumination and permanently mounted optics, e.g., with diffuse illumination (OF510140), with polarizing filter (OF510141) or with focused light source (OF510142).
For even more flexibility in use, ipf electronic offers the model OF510180 with glass fiber optics. With this version, it is possible to integrate the transmitting and receiving optics directly in a tool or to use special apertures and zoom lenses. Using free Windows software, the sensors can quickly be configured and data saved on a PC via an RS232 interface (USB or Ethernet adapter optional). This can be used to teach up to 31 colors. If desired, they can also be arranged in groups and output at the five outputs either directly or in binary code.
The advantage: The user sees what the sensor sees, thereby also allowing deviations to be estimated accordingly.
